The MTN Foundation has announced the opening of applications for its 2025 Scholarship Scheme, offering financial support to high-achieving undergraduate students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. This initiative is part of MTN’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians through education.
About the MTN Scholarship Scheme
Since its inception in 2010, the MTN Scholarship Scheme has been a flagship program of the MTN Foundation, providing annual grants to deserving students. The scholarship is open to undergraduates in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.
In 2025, the foundation will award scholarships worth N300,000 to successful candidates, covering tuition, book allowances, and living expenses. Additionally, blind students will receive N200,000 annually until graduation, provided they maintain the required academic performance.
Categories of the Scholarship
MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS):
- Open to 300-level students studying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses.
- Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 or 3.5/5.0 for university students, or 3.0 (upper credit) for polytechnic students transitioning to HND programs.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
Open to 200 and 300-level blind students in any field of study.
Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 for university students or 2.0 for polytechnic students transitioning to HND programs.
Top 10 UTME Scholarship:
- Automatically awarded to the top 10 candidates in the UTME examination, as announced by JAMB.
- Recipients will receive N300,000 annually from their first year through graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be Nigerian students enrolled in public tertiary institutions.
- For the STS, students must be in their 300 level, while blind students can apply in their 200 or 300 level (except for Law students, who must be in 300 level).
- Applicants must meet the specified CGPA requirements for their category.
Benefits of the Scholarship
- A minimum of 500 students will receive scholarships worth N300,000 each annually.
- The scholarship covers tuition, books, and living expenses for one academic year.
- Blind students will receive N200,000 annually until graduation.
