Project Background

SoCha LLC is preparing to support an international civil society organization in conducting an end-of-project evaluation for a multi-country initiative aimed at promoting sustainability in global value chains. This program operates across 17 countries on four continents, focusing on seven key value chains: cocoa, coffee, tea, palm oil, cotton/textiles, gold, and food products. The program’s interventions include advocacy, civil society strengthening, and value chain development.

Role and Responsibilities

SoCha is seeking a senior-level Advocacy Expert with expertise in civil-society-led, evidence-based advocacy, particularly in sustainable and inclusive value chain development. The expert will:

Design data collection tools.

Conduct desk reviews of program documentation.

  • Perform online and in-person key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and workshops with stakeholders.
  • Undertake field visits to one or more program countries for data collection.
  • Analyze qualitative data from interviews and focus groups.
  • Contribute to the preparation of evaluation reports and client presentations.
  • The expert will collaborate closely with the evaluation team lead and SoCha’s headquarters team. This role is contingent on SoCha being awarded the contract.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master’s or PhD in agriculture, business development, development studies, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in national or global advocacy for economic development, particularly in supply chain sustainability, or in evaluating advocacy-related programs.
  • Proven experience in qualitative data collection methods, including key informant interviews and focus group discussions.
  • Experience working or conducting research in one or more of the following countries: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Honduras, Peru, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, or Sierra Leone. Additional experience in Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Uganda, or Zambia is an advantage.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Proficiency in French or Spanish is a plus.

Duration and Location

Approximately 40 working days between May and December 2025.

Remote work, with potential field visits of up to two weeks in one or more program countries during September/October 2025.
