National Project Officer Position at International Organization for Migration (IOM)
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to join their team in Sierra Leone as a National Project Officer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that support vulnerable communities.
Key Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Office in Sierra Leone and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator. Key duties include:
- Project Coordination and Monitoring: Assist in managing the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and disseminate project reports, monitor progress, and identify gaps to improve implementation.
- Capacity Building: Organize and deliver training sessions for IOM staff, government partners, and civil society organizations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with donors, UN agencies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
- Data Management: Collect, verify, and analyze data, and update information management systems and social media platforms to enhance project visibility.
- Proposal Development: Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, concept notes, and other planning documents.
- Field Visits: Undertake duty travel for project assessments, monitoring, and coordination with counterparts.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience; or
Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.
Experience:
- Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, or other vulnerable groups.
- Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or government institutions is an advantage.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of migration-related issues and livelihood assistance programs, such as microfinancing, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Language: Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Krio is an added advantage.
