National Project Officer Position at International Organization for Migration (IOM)

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to join their team in Sierra Leone as a National Project Officer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that support vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Office in Sierra Leone and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator. Key duties include:
  2. Project Coordination and Monitoring: Assist in managing the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements.
  3. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and disseminate project reports, monitor progress, and identify gaps to improve implementation.
  4. Capacity Building: Organize and deliver training sessions for IOM staff, government partners, and civil society organizations.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with donors, UN agencies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
  6. Data Management: Collect, verify, and analyze data, and update information management systems and social media platforms to enhance project visibility.
  7. Proposal Development: Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, concept notes, and other planning documents.
  8. Field Visits: Undertake duty travel for project assessments, monitoring, and coordination with counterparts.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience; or

Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.

Experience:

  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, or other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or government institutions is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of migration-related issues and livelihood assistance programs, such as microfinancing, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Language: Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Krio is an added advantage.
