Director of Programs and Primary Healthcare – Leadership Opportunity at CHAI Nigeria
The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking an experienced public health professional to fill the critical role of Director of Programs and Primary Health Care in Nigeria. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to drive meaningful change in Nigeria's healthcare system through collaboration with government partners and global health organizations.
Position Overview
As Director, you will:
- Lead CHAI's Primary Healthcare (PHC) initiatives, aligning them with Nigeria's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) objectives
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to strengthen health systems and improve service delivery
- Oversee cross-functional teams, program budgets, and partnerships with key stakeholders
- Advance policy development, secure funding, and introduce innovative approaches to enhance PHC across Nigeria
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership – Design and execute high-impact PHC programs in partnership with Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Health, NPHCDA, and NHIA
- Partnership Development – Cultivate relationships with WHO, World Bank, Global Fund, and other leading health organizations
- Team Leadership – Guide and mentor a diverse team of health professionals
- Resource Mobilization – Secure funding and manage donor reporting for large-scale health initiatives
- Health Systems Strengthening – Improve PHC financing, governance, and service delivery nationwide
Required Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree in Public Health, Economics, or related field (MD or PhD preferred)
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in global health, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing PHC/UHC programs
Key Skills:
- Exceptional project management and strategic planning capabilities
- Expertise in health financing and policy formulation
- Demonstrated ability to engage with government and international partners
- Strong grant writing and donor relations skills
Language: Fluency in English required (knowledge of French or local languages advantageous)
