Pratt Institute Climate Studio Initiative 2025 – Fully Funded Public Art & Climate Justice Program in NYC

Pratt Institute, in collaboration with Beam Center and Telos Learning, is excited to launch the Climate Studio Initiative, supported by the National Science Foundation. This program aims to enhance climate literacy and promote climate justice through public art projects in New York City. By engaging the community and raising awareness of climate issues, the initiative fosters active participation in the democratic process.
The Climate Studio Initiative consists of two core programs and a summer festival. It is open to artists, scientists, educators, and youth aged 16-21 who are interested in using interdisciplinary approaches to tackle climate challenges.
Eligibility Criteria
- Who can apply?
- Artists, scientists, and educators (for the Climate Studio Residency)
- Youth aged 16-21 (for the Climate Studio Youth Fellowship)
- Education Level: No formal education requirements; open to those passionate about climate justice and public art
- Country: Open to participants residing in the United States
- Additional Requirements: A commitment to participating in all stages of the program, willingness to collaborate in an interdisciplinary setting

- Program Structure:
- Climate Studio Residency: Brings together artists, scientists, and educators to collaborate and mentor youth
- Climate Studio Youth Fellowship: A six-week immersive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning experience
- Key Stages:
- Mid-July: In-person Climate Studio workshop focusing on intergenerational co-design for climate justice
- August: One-month production and fabrication phase
- August-September: Public showcase of final projects
- Additional Activities:
- Teach-ins, roundtables, and field trips before the official program begins
- Fees: Participation is free for all selected fellows and residents
