Apply Now – CAPRS Non-Residential Fellowship at the University of Auckland

Have you recently completed a master’s or PhD focused on forced displacement in the Asia-Pacific region? Are you looking for an opportunity to turn your research into real-world impact? The Centre for Asia Pacific Refugee Studies (CAPRS) invites you to apply for the 2025 Non-Residential Fellowship (NRF)—a unique chance to amplify your voice and connect your academic insights with policy and practice. Whether you aim to influence policymakers, inspire practitioners, or inform public debate, this fellowship gives you the tools, mentorship, and funding to make it happen—no matter where you are in the world. If you have lived experience of forced displacement, your perspective is especially welcomed and valued.

About the Fellowship

The NRF is designed for individuals who have completed a master’s or doctoral degree within the past 18 months. The fellowship supports scholars in disseminating research focused on climate- or conflict-induced displacement in the Asia-Pacific region, including Aotearoa/New Zealand. Dissemination may take the form of policy papers, blogs, opinion pieces, conference presentations, or submissions to decision-making bodies. Fellows must clearly identify their intended audience and how they aim to influence them.

Key Features:

  • Fellowship duration: 6–9 months (commencing mid-May 2025)
  • Stipend: $12,500 NZD
  • Location: Non-residential (remote participation)
  • Mentorship from CAPRS faculty
  • Bi-monthly online cohort meetings
  • Online professional development seminars on research impact, media engagement, and policy communication

The 2025 NRF programme is generously supported by Potato Productions Singapore and the Boyd Clarke Foundation.
