Join Our Team as a Mental Health Officer!

Widow’s Mite Reach Out Foundation (WIMROF) is looking for a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Officer to lead our mental health initiatives in Kano. This role is perfect for a professional passionate about improving psychological well-being in underserved communities through awareness, counseling, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement community-focused mental health programs tailored to local needs.
• Conduct mental health assessments and provide individual/group counseling.
• Train staff and volunteers on mental health awareness and first aid.
• Develop educational materials to promote mental health literacy.
• Collaborate with health teams to integrate mental health into broader programs.
• Offer crisis intervention and emotional support to those in distress.
• Monitor program effectiveness through data tracking and reporting.
• Engage with community leaders to ensure culturally sensitive service delivery.
• Facilitate referrals to specialized mental health services when necessary.
• Advocate for better mental health policies and accessibility.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in mental health programming or counseling.
• Strong understanding of mental health disorders and therapeutic interventions.
• Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Background in community-based mental health initiatives is a plus.
