About the Opportunity:

– Sub-Saharan Africa
– Transnational Security (e.g. hybrid threats, disinformation, resilience)
– Director’s Office (research, coordination, outreach support)

Key Responsibilities:

– Conducting desk and library research
– Preparing research dossiers and concept material
– Organising and supporting events (logistics, outreach, notes, etc.)
– Updating databases and research maps
– Supporting multi-portfolio or institutional projects

Eligibility Criteria:

– Nationality: Must be a citizen of an EU member state

Education:

– Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Economics, or a related field (must be obtained before traineeship start date)

Languages:

– Fluent in English
– Proficiency in at least one other EU language
– Additional knowledge of a regional language is an asset

Skills and Experience:

– Strong research and data-gathering skills
– Experience in event organisation
– Computer literacy
– Analytical and report-writing skills (asset)
– Fieldwork/research experience in selected portfolio (asset)

Traineeship Conditions:

– Duration: 10 months
– Start and End Dates: 16 September 2025 – 15 July 2026 (subject to change)

Location:

– Paris HQ (7 positions): EUR 1,767.15/month
– Brussels Office (2 positions): EUR 1,539.45/month

Additional Conditions:

– Trainees follow standard EUISS working hours
– Limited teleworking allowed (only within host country)
– 1.5 days of leave per month
– Health and accident insurance required (self-arranged)
– Travel and accommodation are not covered
