Call for applications : 3MTT and Data Science Nigeria Unveil First DeepTech_Ready Upskilling Program (Apply now)
The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, in partnership with Data Science Nigeria and supported by Google.org, has officially launched the inaugural cohort of the DeepTech_Ready Upskilling Program. This launch represents a significant step forward in Nigeria’s quest to become a global hub for digital skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise.
The DeepTech_Ready Upskilling Program is part of a larger initiative to boost AI talent in Nigeria, made possible by a N2.8 billion grant from Google.org, which was announced in October. This funding is part of Google.org’s wider $5.8 million investment aimed at empowering Africa’s digital transformation.
Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, expressed the importance of the program, stating, “The launch of DeepTech_Ready demonstrates our shared vision to place Nigeria at the forefront of the global digital economy. With the backing of Google.org, we are developing future leaders in AI and data science while ensuring that Nigeria leverages AI’s full potential for economic progress and societal advancement.”
The DeepTech_Ready Upskilling Program will equip 20,000 young Nigerians with advanced skills in Data Science and AI, spread across multiple cohorts. Each cohort will participate in a comprehensive six-month curriculum, including self-paced learning, on-site support, project-based experiences, and job readiness training, preparing them for high-demand tech roles in the global digital marketplace.
Dr. Tijani reiterated the program's significance, emphasizing, “This program is a realization of our collective vision to drive Nigeria’s leadership in the digital economy. Google.org’s support is not only developing AI and data science talent but also ensuring that AI technologies are fully utilized for Nigeria’s growth.”
