Save the Children tana ɗaya daga cikin manyan Ƙungiyoyi masu zaman kansu a Najeriya da suka himmatu wajen taimakon yara masu bukata. Ƙungiyar tana gudanar da shirye-shirye a ƙasashe sama da 120 domin ceto yara ƙanana daga yunwa, matsanancin hali, da kuma fafutukar kare hakkinsu, tare da taimaka musu su cimma burinsu.

Project Objectives

The specific objectives the project are to:

• Increase CSOs to deepen knowledge and increase awareness in digital rights inclusion, advocacy and activism in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and Guinea;
• Enhance the capacity of selected CSOs in identifying gaps in digital rights inclusion, and conceptualising and designing effective advocacy campaigns using digital tools and resources to drive change in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and Guinea.
• Build a community of practice (CoP) and digital rights advocacy network to advocate for relevant policy reforms at national and regional levels; and
• Amplify community outreach and citizens’ engagements on digital security, digital rights advocacy and activism across the region.

Specific Deliverables

Successful facilitators will perform the following tasks:

• Develop digital advocacy toolkit to be used to facilitate training and awareness creation sessions
• Develop and apply capacity and learning needs assessment tools for selected group of civil society actors at country levels
• Develop and adapt training contents, including PowerPoint slides, learning objectives, case studies, and other relevant materials to participants local context—in collaboration with WACSI.
• Lead the facilitation of a 4.5-day training session under the guidance of WACSI team.
• Support organisations in the development of their action plans – to be monitored through series of coaching sessions
• Provide post-training technical support to participants through coaching and mentorship sessions to advance organisations’ ability to institutionalise learnings and acquired skills in digital rights advocacy and activism
• Produce a series of reports including capacity/learning needs report, post training narrative and evaluation reports, post-coaching and mentorship, and end of project report.
• Hold a bi-monthly meeting with WACSI team to assess project and respond to emerging issues on the project.

• The project team will adopt a diversity, equality and inclusive (DEI) approach to the various phases of the project;
• The project including toolkit, training contents and delivery will be done in both English and French.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

• Understanding of the digital security landscape in West Africa particularly from civil society perspectives

• Proven expertise in digital security, digital rights including, digital advocacy, activism and online campaigns

• Strong knowledge of relevant digital security related policies, laws and regulations at both national and global levels.

• Desirable experience in engaging and influencing digital security policies and discourses at national, regional or global level.

• Demonstrated skills and experience in training and facilitation, especially in digital security, digital rights advocacy and activism for civil society organisations

• Track record in delivering similar interventions to civil society organisations in digital digital security, digital rights advocacy and activism strengthening and policy engagements.

• Operational experience in the Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria and Liberia.

Candidate Profile

Internship Overview

This paid internship runs from early June to mid-August 2025, with interns expected to work up to 32 hours per week, primarily Monday through Thursday, at PPL’s vibrant DUMBO office in New York City. Graduate interns are current or recent students who are passionate about using their skills to improve public services. On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially inaugurated a high-level committee charged with designing the framework for Nigeria’s long-awaited population and housing census. The event, held at the State House in Abuja, was represented by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

This marks a significant step forward, as Nigeria has not conducted a national census since 2006. That census recorded a total population of 140,431,790 people — 71,345,488 males and 69,086,302 females.

According to a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the census in national development, noting that accurate population data is critical for effective planning and budgeting. “You must work closely with all relevant agencies, including the Budget Ministry. You cannot plan a budget without knowing how many people you’re planning for,” Tinubu was quoted as saying.

The committee has been given a three-week deadline to present its report, which is expected to shape the direction and credibility of the upcoming census exercise.

What Is Available?

• Two fully-funded doctoral studentships for entry in the 2025–26 academic year

1. Introduction

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is a Regional Economic Community (REC) comprised of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda established for the purpose of regional economic integration and joint efforts toward peace, security, and prosperity.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) was established in 1996 to supersede the Intergovernmental Authority on Drought and Development (IGADD) which was founded in 1986 to mitigate the effects of the recurring severe droughts and other natural disasters that resulted in widespread famine, ecological degradation and economic hardship in the region. The establishment of IGAD as driven by a vision of advancing a strong regional identity, ensuring peace, and creating a secure environment where poverty is alleviated through sustainable and effective development programs. Accordingly, the IGAD Secretariat, as the executive body, is entrusted with the responsibility of creating a resilient, peaceful, prosperous, and integrated region where citizens enjoy a high quality of life. The mission focuses on promoting regional cooperation and integration to enhance Member States’ efforts in achieving peace, security, and prosperity. The overarching goal of IGAD to drive transformation towards sustainable development, resilience, and stability within the IGAD region, with a theme of building transformative regional capacities for long-term growth and development.

IGAD seeks to achieve this through the promotion of regional cooperation and programmes that add value to Member States’ efforts for peace and sustainable development. To further this, IGAD with support from the Government of Japan, seeks to provide strategic placements for emerging leaders across IGAD institutions, national governments, and regional organizations, providing hands-on experience in leadership and decision-making. The placements are designed to build practical skills while fostering cross-cultural understanding and regional integration through direct institutional experience.

2.Purpose of Internship

Through a conducive training and career development environment, IGAD is seeking to place 14 young professionals (2) per country who are interested in advancing gender equality in different fields of their careers.

The Internship Programme is a learning opportunity aimed at attracting talented young women and men who are strongly motivated to share their new perspectives and innovative ideas in IGAD.

The interns will be attached to IGAD Divisions based on their education qualification. Interns will be based at IGAD Offices located in their respective home country. The interns will receive on-job training as well as gain practical work experience while offering support that will enhance the advancement of gender equality in different fields.

3.Qualifications, Key Duties and Specific Responsibilities

3.1. Qualifications

The interns shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or be enrolled in a university graduate study (master’s) program with plans to return to school after successful completion of the internship.

Internships opportunities are open to applicants who have not yet acquired professional work experience within a period of less than two years after completing their 2nd degree (master’s programme).

3.2. Other Requirements 

• Nationality: candidates must be nationals of IGAD Member States
• Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.
• Age: candidates should be aged between 21 and 27 at the start of their internship
• Skills: candidates should be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment, have good communication skills and be knowledgeable in the use of basic computer programmes.

3.3. Skills 

The applicants should be enthusiastic and self-directed, possess excellent time management skills, and capably manage independently the assigned tasks.

3.2. Key Duties

During the placement period, the interns shall be expected to provide hands on support in the programme/ project implementation and gender mainstreaming in the area they will be assigned.

4. Reporting

The interns will report to the Project Manager that will be allocated, who will supervise the day-to-day assignments and evaluation of tasks in collaboration with the IGAD Gender office. At the end of the internship, the interns will be required to submit an internship report.

5. Renumeration 

No salary shall be paid to the interns.

6. Timeframe and Duty Station 

The Internship placement will last for a period three (3) months. Duty station will be country of application with possibility of travelling in the IGAD region.

Structures in certain communities will be equipped to allow young people from rural and underserved areas to access computers and the internet and fully participate in virtual training and coaching sessions.

Programme Implementation, Coordination & Management:

• Lead the development and implementation of the project’s evidence-based gender equality and disability inclusion analysis as well as the strategy and action plan

• Ensure children with disabilities are further referred for clinical assessment and provision of assistive devices (where necessary) that will enhance and ensure their participation.
• Work with the WASH team to ensure facilities are assessed for availability, functionality, safety gender-responsiveness and disability friendliness using global standard to enable safe learning environment for the needs of girls and boys with disabilities and adolescent mothers.
• In collaboration with OPS/Networks and Women and girls’ rights organisations to identify and develop/strengthen existing community referral pathways for availability information on available services for children with disabilities and adolescent girls/mothers.
• Work with the education team to build capacity of School Based Management Committees (SBMCs), Parents Teachers Association (PTAs) on GEDI and ensure female representation in the SBMC.
• Work with the team to identify adolescent girls and girls with disabilities to be engaged in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programmes, and in the distribution of learners’ kit.
• Contribute to the project’s quarterly, biannual, and annual reports by highlighting successes, challenges, lessons learned and opportunities GEDI programming within the project and country.

Meal:

• Collaborate with the project’s MEAL staff to propose indicators and participate in the collection and analysis of data for monitoring, reporting and learning purposes ensuring the project takes a transformative, integrated approach to GEDI.
• Work with the OPDs/Networks to identify children/adolescent girls with disability in communities and support the MEAL team in training enumerators on the use of the Washington Group of Questions (WGQs) to identify children with disabilities and GEDI.
• In collaboration with the MEAL team, collate and disseminate regular project disability inclusion reports.

Human Resources Management and Development:

• Working together with the project team to identify learning and development needs of the teams and develop specific plans to address the learning needs.

Internal and external engagements:

• Develop and maintain a network of external contacts with key individuals in the state, NGO sector, civil society and the media particularly working on gender issues and participate in gender working group meetings, which may include providing oversight.
• Engage the relevant gender and disability stakeholders at State levels in support of the project cycle management.

About the Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ)

The Advisory Council on Youth is a non-governmental body composed of 30 young representatives who work in partnership with government officials through a co-management system. Together with the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ), the CCJ forms the Joint Council on Youth (CMJ), which sets priorities for the Council of Europe’s youth sector based on the Youth Sector Strategy 2030.

What CCJ Members Do

Selected CCJ members are expected to:
